The Kenyan Coast has a lot for a visitor; may it be the undersea paradise, the offshore resorts, the wildlife rich coastal rain forests or just the warmth of the coastal people and their rich culture.

:: Nairobi City Tour

 

Nairobi City This is a tour of the city center, city market, parliament, the office of the president, the railway museum, the renowned national museum and the adjacent snake park.

 

:: Nairobi National Park

 

This unique wildlife sanctuary is just a few kilometers from Nairobi city center. Different species of mammals are found there including four of the "Big Five". The tour also includes a visit to the animal orphanage.

 

:: Karen Blixen & Giraffe Centre

 

Drive towards the Ngong hills and pass Ngong village to the Karen Blixen Museum, for many years her home.

 

:: Daphne Sheldrick's

 

Daphne Sheldrick's is an elephant orphanage located in Ongata Rongai. You can take a half-day excursion at this orphanage and enjoy a guided tour by the proprietor.

 

:: Carnivore

 

A visit to Carnivore restaurant offers you a different lunch or dinner experience. You will sample their wide selection of meats including game meat roasted on charcoal and served with delicious side dishes. The surrounding tropical gardens and the unique architectural designs make Carnivore very attractive.

 

:: North Coast

 

This is a heavily developed part of Mombasa with many resort hotels. Interesting areas to visit include the Bamburi nature trail - a very impressive piece of land reclaimed from cement quarry, and where you will sample some wildlife. The Mamba village (crocodile farm) and the Bombolulu Handicrafts Centre owned by the Association of the Physically Disabled are also located in this area.
 
:: South Coast

 

This part of the coastline has very beautiful coral lined beaches. Famous beaches include Tiwi beach, Diani beach, Shelly beach etc. This is a good place to visit for those interested in water sports like scuba diving, windsurfing etc. The annual sky diving event attracts many divers from around the world.
:: Malindi

 

Malindi CoastlineMalindi is the second largest town on the Kenyan Coast and is famous for the Malindi Marine National Park, deep-sea fishing and windsurfing. The Kenya Falconry where there are caged birds of prey is also located here. Your will notice the Italian influence on this town and especially on the resorts.
 
:: Watamu

 

Watamu is located south of Malindi, it has a more interesting coastline than some of the popular sandy beaches. The beach has a series of sandy bays separated by distinctive rocky outcrops that you can walk to when tide is low. Here you will find the Watamu Marine Park and not to mention the Bioken Snake farm with a wide range of local snake species. Arabuko Sokoke, the largest surviving coastal dry forest in East Africa is found in this area. and is a interesting destination for bird watchers.
 
:: Fort Jesus

 

Fort JesusBuilt in 1593 by the Portuguese, it was used as a transit point for slave trade. Currently it is a museum with beautiful historic artifacts. Its interior comprises of torture rooms and prison cells where slaves were kept before being traded. Weapons such as canons are on display.
:: Gedi Ruins

 

Gedi RuinsThis is an Arab-Swahili town that was deserted in the 17th century, and is today a museum with well-trained guides. It is located on the outskirts of Arabuko Sokoke forest and includes houses, mosques, tombs and cemeteries.
 
:: Old Town

 

Old Town MombasaIt is well known for its ancient buildings dating over 100 years. The architectural designs are based on British, Indian and Swahili cultures. A guided tour round the town on foot is worth trying.
